Hyams Beach
The headline act, and it earns it.
Hyams Beach is famous for sand so white it is almost blinding in full sun, framing water in that unreal shade of turquoise. It gets busy in peak summer, but in spring you can actually enjoy it. Go early, spread out a towel, and take in the view. Parking is limited, so an early start pays off.
Greenfield Beach
Right next door to Hyams and a little more relaxed.
Greenfield has the same beautiful sand and clear water with grassy picnic areas and shade behind the beach, which makes it a favourite for families. It is also the starting point for the White Sands Walk, an easy coastal track that links it to Hyams Beach with lookouts over the bay the whole way.
Murrays Beach
Inside Booderee National Park, and worth the drive.
Murrays Beach is calm, clear and sheltered, backed by bushland and often quiet even in busier months. The water is beautifully still for a paddle, and the boat ramp here is the launch point for trips out to Bowen Island. Booderee entry is ticketed, so check the daily fee before you go.
Honeymoon Bay
A small, sheltered cove that punches above its size.
Tucked in near the northern edge of Booderee, Honeymoon Bay is protected, shallow and calm, which makes it ideal for families with little ones and anyone who prefers gentle water. It is popular, so arrive early on a warm day to claim your spot.
Blenheim Beach and Chinamans Beach
For when you want the quiet ones.
These smaller beaches near Vincentia see a fraction of the foot traffic of Hyams, yet offer the same clear water and white sand. They are the ones locals slip off to when the headline beaches fill up. Pack everything you need, because facilities are minimal, and enjoy having a slice of the bay almost to yourself.
Nelsons Beach and Collingwood Beach
Long, calm bayside beaches close to town.
Running along the Huskisson and Vincentia shoreline, these gentle beaches are perfect for a morning walk, a swim without surf and an easy afternoon close to the cafes. If you are staying in Huskisson, you can walk to them.
